Under the blue sky, in Cibeuti village, Kawalu, Tasikmalaya City, on the land that was once touched by the fighters, still stands firmly the 3135th Red Bear Battalion Historical Monument.
During the First Independence War around 1947-1948, this place became the Battalion Post that led the defense in the Southern Tasikmalaya Sector. From Kawalu to Cibeureum, from Sukaraja to Cibalong, and to Karangnunggal, the soldiers fought under the command of Major Sani Lufias Abdurachman.
In the silence of the night, they stood by to guard this fortress. In the public kitchen, they share stories and enthusiasm. Major Sani, the leader, then settled in Bandung for a long time, but the traces of his leadership are engraved forever on the monument located in Cibeuti Village, Kawalu District.
Let us remember their struggle, and do not let the Red Bear Monument just be another silent witness, about the important history of the Siliwangi army in the city of Tasikmalaya.
With this caption, we try to record the heroism of our predecessors from the Siliwangi Battalion. So that it is not only a heroic story told in oral culture, from grandfather to grandson from generation to generation. However, it is a witness to history that cares and produces an awareness movement to take care of the heritage of the past.
This effort is hopefully in harmony with the old proverb of the ancient Latin proverb, quoted from the speech of the emperor Titus before the Roman Senate,
Scripta Manent, Verba Volant (The written will be eternal, the spoken will perish)
